Each star has life of its own, from its formation to its more or less stormy demise. We can observe stars in various stages of development, but rarely do we witness that the star evolves before our eyes. One such unique case is the star SAO 244567 in the constellation Altar, 2,700 light-years away reaching its final white dwarf stage. Archival data reveal that the nebula has faded precipitously over just the past two decades. Witnessing such a swift rate of change in a planetary nebula is exceedingly without precedent. The Stingray Nebula is the youngest known planetary nebula in our sky.
